My life began with a very humble background in the slums of Wakulukuku Kabowa. I was born into a small village in central Uganda and my parents did their best to provide us with the best life they could afford. Even at a young age, I fondly remember my father never letting us go to bed on an empty stomach.
It was at age seven, however, that I faced the most trying moments in my life. I lost my father to HIV and then, nine years later, my beloved mother followed him. This left me on my own at the age of 16. The world had thrown me a curveball and I was left feeling alone and questioning why God had put me on earth to go through such a life.

I was the second oldest of my siblings, so I was forced to take care of them when I was just 17 years old. Unfortunately, our home was in a place with no charity organizations to help us. To make things worse, the only primary school we could attend was very expensive and I could not afford to pay for it. I had to start working at a young age to provide for myself and my siblings and I felt like I had been pushed into a corner with no way out. I was left with no other option but to resort to begging in order to feed us.
However, I received a ray of hope when one family chose to adopt me. For the first time in a long time, I could sleep without worrying about whether my siblings had food to eat. I eventually managed to work hard and get myself back to school and even pay for my sisters' education. Today, I am a happily married man and my wife and I are blessed with two amazing children Kylie and Kylene.
Living through this experience taught me a lot about life, including the importance of hard work and good morals which helped me to be accepted and loved by the families who took us in. They became my new parents and I am who I am today because of them.

Living such a life
taught me a lot about life that
included, hard work, good morals, which made me to affable to all those that
accepted to help me to the extent that many families again requested me to stay
with them because of how disciplined I was. I acknowledge the families that
raised me because they gave me another reason to live, they became my new
parents. I am now who I am because they loved ME.
I know there are still many children in Uganda who are going through a similar journey and I want to do something to help. This is why I started JB Caring Hearts, to utilize the little I have to provide the basics of life for these children, which I never got the chance to have. I may not have the means to help everyone, but I believe we can make a difference one child at a time.
